When Art Leaves Me: On Creating Pieces That Live Beyond the Studio

When Art Leaves Me: On Creating Pieces That Live Beyond the Studio

Sometimes I forget I made certain pieces.
Over the years, I’ve created so many handmade works that a few naturally slip from immediate memory.

Then I see someone wearing one — moving through the world, living their life, carrying a piece of my art with them — and everything comes back into focus.

Over the holidays, I realized something important.
I don’t create accessories.
I create moments.
Experiences.
Keepsakes.
Collectible pieces of wearable art that carry story, intention, and memory.

My work is meant to be lived in.
It moves through rooms, conversations, and everyday life.
It leaves my hands, gathers meaning, and becomes part of someone else’s world.

As this year comes to a close, I’m holding gratitude for the pause — for the space it created, the clarity it offered, and the perspective it gave me. This season of stepping back has been part of the process, too. A necessary chapter.

Looking ahead, I feel the quiet pull toward creating again. The intention is there. The ideas are forming. And while I’m open to wherever life leads next, I’m also honoring the desire to return — thoughtfully, intentionally, and in alignment with who I am becoming.

To everyone who has supported my work, worn my art, shared kind words, or carried a piece of my story with them over the years — thank you. You’ve made this journey richer than I ever imagined.

And that, to me, feels like purpose in its truest form.
